Deca Homes developer installs fiber to the home infra

FOR officials of 8990 Holdings Inc., developers of economy housing projects Deca Homes, affordable does not have to mean lousy. To be sure the residents of their new community in Tipolo, Mandaue City get their money’s worth, they have partnered with an IT solutions company to install fiber to the home (FTTH) infrastructure that would allow faster Internet connectivity, landline telephone services and cable TV.
Company officials signed a memorandum of agreement with ITech-RAR Solutions last Saturday for the technology company to install the fiber optic infrastructure around the Urban Deca Homes Tipolo, a 20-building development composed of 1,540 units.
Alexander Ace Sotto, 8990 Holdings general manager for engineering and construction, said that while the agreement is for the Tipolo development, they are studying the possibility of installing the same infrastructure on other Deca homes projects, including the horizontal developments.
For now, they are ensuring that condominium dwellers can have access to fast and reliable Internet, cable and landlines at prices they can afford.
Andres Ralota Jr., president and CEO of ITech-RAR, told Sun.Star Cebu that their solution does not compete with existing service providers, but instead, complements their services. ITech-RAR, he said, will engage the services of these providers and in turn provide these to home owners. Home owners will have 24-hour support as they will have an in-house management team in the premises to ensure the services are working at all times.
ITech-RAR vice president for administration and accounting Rene Baya said they will be the first to provide such services in Cebu. They chose to partner with 8990 Holdings because they felt their direction was aligned with their plan for FTTH.
Baya that that while main lines are connected via fiber optic lines, connections leading to individual units are still connected by copper lines, which are slower in transmitting data.
